Boot Camps


Thanks to all those who joined us this March Break for five days of singing, acting and movement. Drayton Entertainment’s Youth Academy proudly presented two new training programs featuring Musical Theatre’s greatest Showstoppers!

March Break Camp in Waterloo Disney on Broadway Bootcamp in fancy font

Ages: 8 – 12
Location: Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy (145 Northfield Dr. Waterloo)
Date: Monday, March 13 to Friday, March 17
Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 
Cost: $395 plus tax 

Learn FOUR major production numbers from classic Disney musicals. Performers will receive practical insight into how big musical numbers are rehearsed and performed while they work with Associate Artistic Director David Connolly and professional artists to produce a showcase of classic Disney showstoppers. Building on the fundamentals of singing, acting, and movement, students will develop an understanding of reading sheet music, vocal production, choreography and creating dynamic characters within the ensemble. The Final Showcase will be presented on Friday, March 17 at 3:00 p.m. In addition, students will attend Master Classes with Industry Professionals.

March Break Bootcamp Guest Faculty

DEYA is proud to introduce some of our March Break Faculty: Dayna Tekatch (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) will be our virtual guest speaker; Justin Bott is our voice over and on camera workshops leader, Chris James will be leading a stage combat workshop and Darryn deSouza will be our Music Director for the week!

VIRTUAL GUEST SPEAKER

Dayna is currently the resident director of the Mirvish production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. She was also the resident director of Come From Away and consultant for the London, England and Melbourne, Australia productions. She has directed and choreographed all across Canada, including 13 productions at the National Arts Centre and 9 seasons at the Stratford Festival. Directorial highlights include: Crazy For You (Citadel/Theatre Calgary), The 39 Steps, Stones in his Pockets (Neptune), Avenue Q (Citadel), Oliver! (NAC) and Forever Plaid (Starvox). She lives in Toronto with some incredible artists- Sean, Liam, and Isla.

VOICE OVER AND ON CAMERA WORKSHOP LEADER

Justin is an award-winning stage, voiceover and film/tv/commercial actor. He’s also a proud dad of two kiddos, a husband, an acting/voiceover coach and an amateur barista!

Chris James

Chris James

STAGE COMBAT WORKSHOP

Chris James is a talented martial artist. He has trained in Muay Thai, Kali, Capoeira, Boxing, Judo, and is an instructor in Commando Krav Maga. Proficient in a number of edge weapons, short and long gun tactics & disarms, and unarmed combat, Chris has used his training in stunts, stage combat, and fight directing to choreograph action on stage and screen. Always looking to pay it forward, he also started an in-school stage combat workshop in 2019 for high school arts programs all across Ontario.

Always striving to create a unique aspect to each moment, he can reveal the truth behind any instance using any object or action.

MARCH BREAK MUSIC DIRECTOR

As the Music Director for the Canadian vocal supergroup, The Tenors, Darryn has shared the stage and worked with many legends: Paul Anka, David Foster, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, Harry Connick Jr., Kenny G, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, and Stevie Wonder, to name just a few. He also has spent time with and performed for many world & creative leaders, including Barack & Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
As an educator, Darryn has pioneered vocal and theatre programs around the province including the Milton Youth Theatre Productions, the Studio School of Dance, Brampton Theatre School, Yellow Door Theatre, and Centre Stage Conservatory, pushing creative programming and a teaching method for student toolkit and confidence building.
Besides being a gifted communicator, Darryn connects and builds strong rapport with young artists looking to grow and understand how to improve their craft through meaningful and responsible mentorship.

Supervised drop off available at 8:45 a.m. and pick-up until 4:15 p.m. 
Please plan to bring water and a packed lunch.
