Summer Camps
Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy’s Summer Camps give young performers a chance to have fun, meet new friends and gain skills while learning about blockbuster musical theatre shows! Attendees will build on the fundamentals of singing, acting and movement by learning production numbers, solos, scenes and monologues from a different, age-appropriate musical each week throughout the summer. All of that plus improv theatre games, crafts and making new friends who love musical theatre as much as you do!
FAMILY DISCOUNT: 10% discount for each additional member of the immediate family from the same household.
FREQUENCY DISCOUNT: 5% discount on weekly tuition when you register for 3 weeks or more.

Private Acting Tutorial
Youth In Person
Students of all levels of experience are welcome to enrol in Private Acting Tutorials. These 30-minute sessions are recommended weekly or bi-weekly. Instructors will help to set goals and choose appropriate material that suits the student’s age and vocal style while building physical and intellectual responses to text. They’ll be guided through a variety of acting techniques that will allow them make clear choices for their characters by analyzing the emotional and intellectual content of the text, and improve confidence as a solo performer.

Students of all levels of experience are welcome to enrol in Private Vocal Tutorials. These 30-minute sessions are recommended weekly or bi-weekly. Instructors will help to set goals and choose appropriate material that suits the student’s age and vocal style while analyzing emotion, interpretation and vocal phrasing. They’ll be guided through a variety of vocal techniques including vocal warm-ups, pitch/range and breath control to build vocal strength and improve confidence as a solo performer.

All-Access Class
Youth In Person
All bodies and abilities are welcome to enrol in our All-Access Class: Youth. The All-Access Class is designed specifically for people under 18 years old with any disability or special needs. The curriculum, based on authentic self-expression found through movement, music, acting and theatre games will be created to accommodate the needs of the specific students. By celebrating diversity and self-confidence, this class will give students a sense of accomplishment and community.

Beginning musical theatre students looking to feel more prepared for future auditions are welcome to enrol in our Audition Binder class. In a small group, students will be given 2 solos and 2 monologues from age and level appropriate repertoire to workshop one-on-one in a safe, supportive group setting. Instructors will help develop a better understanding of creating believable characters in extraordinary circumstances within an audition setting.

Instructors will use choral music across multiple genres to guide students through a variety of vocal techniques in a group setting. Students will develop skills including breath support, diction, harmony, sight singing, pitch and range. By collaborating with a community of like-minded artists, students will improve their confidence for live performance within a safe and supportive environment.

Students of an advanced level are welcome to enrol in Group Vocal Technique 201. Instructors will use choral music across multiple genres to guide students through a variety of vocal techniques in a group setting. Students will develop skills including the continued exploration of breath support, diction, harmony, sight singing, pitch and range with an added focus of anatomy and vocal health, simple melodic embellishment, flexibility, control and stamina. By collaborating with a community of like-minded artists, students will improve their confidence for live performance within a safe and supportive environment.

Students will learn to create characters from a place of instinct and physicality in a safe, collaborative space.

Musical Theatre Ensemble is for anyone who loves to sing, dance and act! This is our introductory triple threat class. Students will work as an ensemble to learn music and choreography to a wide range of age-appropriate musical production numbers from Broadway shows. Building on the fundamentals of singing, dancing and acting, students will develop an understanding of choreography, reading sheet music, vocal production, and creating dynamic characters within the ensemble.

Students will create and present new poetry, monologues, scenes, lists, rants, letters, memoirs, and more, and exchange feedback in a supportive environment.

Advanced acting students are welcome to enrol in Scripted Acting. Students will explore character development through text analysis techniques using age and level appropriate monologues and scenes from a wide range of published plays. Instructors will help students learn to break down clues within the script, and how those clues influence the way their character walks, talks, feels, and interacts with other actors in the play.

Students of all levels of experience are welcome to enrol in Stage Combat. Students, grouped by age, will build physical and intellectual responses to conflict while combining physical performance with emotional acting. Instructors will safely lead various forms of combat such as rolls, falls, striking and kicking, and improve control over explosive reactions, ensuring a safe transfer of energy between performers.

Students of any experience level are welcome to enrol in our Technical Theatre Production class to gain insider knowledge and appreciation of what happens behind-the-scenes. This overview training will instill practical knowledge from a different department each week: lighting design, costume design and construction, props design and construction, set design with carpentry and paint, sound design, stage management, and more.

Youth and Teens In Person
Advanced acting students, ages 11-18, are welcome to audition for our Drama Company. In this Pre-Professional Production Program, performers will gain practical insight into how a play is cast, rehearsed, and performed while they work with a professional Director to produce an excerpt of a play. They will hone acting, leadership, and teamwork skills while making friends and having fun.
This group will present an end of term performance.

Youth and Teens In Person
Advanced musical theatre students, ages 11-18, are welcome to audition for our Musical Theatre Company. In this Pre-Professional Production Program, performers will gain practical insight into how a musical is cast, rehearsed, and performed while they work with a professional creative team to produce a concert version of a musical. They will hone acting, singing, dancing, leadership and teamwork skills while making friends and having fun.
This group will present an end of term performance.
