Technical Theatre
Discover the artistry and craftsmanship that bring theatre productions to life in this hands-on technical theatre class! Through three immersive units, participants will gain practical skills in Mood Board Creation, 3D Modeling, and Graphics and Props —essential elements of stage production. This course is designed with flexibility in mind, offering participants the option to purchase individual units or commit to the full 12-week session, which includes all three units.
Unit 1: Mood Board Creation
In this unit, students will turn ideas and visions into a visual collage called a mood board. Think of it like a scrapbook of inspiration. Students will cut, paste, and arrange images, fabric swatches, colours, textures, and words that show the look, feel, and atmosphere of their vision in a way that the rest of production can understand and work towards. The end result is for the students to have a clear, visual tool to communicate their creative vision to the rest of any production, collective or creative team.
Saturdays: January 17, January 24, January 31, February 7
Bundle Price: $216.00 for all 12 weeks
Purchase 3 Unit Bundle: Kids/Youth (8 – 13) and Teens/Adults (14+)

Purchase Unit 1: Kids/Youth (8 – 13) and Teens/Adults (14+)
Unit 2: 3D Modeling
In this hands-on class, students get to create something called a positive or final cast – think of it as a 3D copy of an object, kind of like a “model” or a “ ultra detailed replica” that can be held and added to. First, students will make a mold (based upon their choice of item), and then they will fill it with material that hardens into a solid shape (final cast). By the end, students will have a neat, physical version of their object that they’ve made themself! Perfect for anyone curious about art, design, prosthetics/special effects or just seeing their ideas come to life in 3D.

Unit 3: Graphics and Props
Unleash your inner artist and design a cover that is 100% your own! In this class, students will learn how to mix images, colors, fonts, and layouts to make a bold, eye-catching design similar to the thousands of items that appear legit in the background of any tv show or film, let alone a hero piece shown close up. The students will have a final piece that they can display as a sign, record cover, comic cover or just about anything else that you have seen an actor handle on screen or stage.

Meet Your Instructor

Sean Moore
SEAN MOORE, a 24 year film/tv Emmy Award winning veteran, has experienced and overcome design challenges of all sorts. His ability to think outside the box, arrive on time, remain cool and be communicative with those around him has balanced the inordinate amount of skill and knowledge acquired along the way. With a sizable database of solutions and creativity, Sean is only too happy to share with others. Props, set dressing, graphics, motion graphics, set design, concept art, art direction, technical stage manager and production design as applied both manually and digitally throughout the years has allowed him to present himself not only as a member of production but also in the capacity of a mentor and an educator:
Forest Heights, Directors Guild of Canada Sketchup Instructor, NOAA sequential art guest speaker, Lambton College International Business lecturer.
Sean is originally from Toronto, by way of a decade in Montreal while attending Concordia University’s Fine Art Program. Upon relocating to the region, he spent time working as a liturgical designer and creating marketing strategies and design for local vendors as well as contributing to the Pop Art Exhibit at the Children’s Museum.
Sean has also steered many hours of film/tv production back into the area for such projects as the Hardy Boys, Odd Squad, Hallmark films, Simulant, Borjé and Murdoch Mysteries to name a few.
His technical and art direction skills have allowed him many opportunities to assist in the finalization, realization and strategization of a decent array of Drayton Entertainment projects for which he is very thankful.
